Taking The Proper Clothing Can Make All The Difference

This doesn’t mean you can’t wear any of the clothes you currently have. A dress or a favorite pair of jeans you love to wear out at the clubs for instance. This is about your day to day comfort in a humid and tropical region, doing the typical touristy stuff, like shopping and site seeing.

The number one thing I recommend is?

  • Don’t wear cotton T-shirts! Unless you like to sweat profusely. I wear Men’s Champion Vapor T-shirts and for woman Champion Powertrain T-shirts. Here are the reasons I wear this kind of shirt. These shirts are not very expensive. They are moisture wicking and are very thin and light, (they take very little room in your luggage). These types of T’s are wrinkle free and air dry very quickly, (most accommodations in Thailand don’t have clothes dryers). If you get the tight fitting style, you can swim with them on. Keep in mind, there are other brands available also. Just make sure they are mostly polyester.
  • Try to wear better sandals! If you wear the flimsy flip flops all the time, and you are used to them, you might be okay. I still suggest getting sturdy sandals similar to these men’s sandals. Or these woman’s sandals. Thai cities are usually crowded and very often the sidewalks are uneven and not very wide. So my choice for most of my time in Thailand is a closed toe shoe with no laces, (slip on sneakers) for men. And the same for women. These are super light and comfortable. They dry quickly and you can take them off and put them on easily, (great for the airport, and Thai’s don’t wear shoes indoors in all homes and in some businesses). If you see shoes outside of a door way, take your shoes off.
  • If you plan on doing some hiking in the jungles, bring some hiking shoes for women. And these for men. I personally have this pair and love them. I would also bring some convertible pants for hiking. These for men are perfect for changing weather and temperatures. Wear them as shorts during the day and protect your legs from mosquitoes at night. Try these for women.

I will update and add to this list as I travel in Thailand.
